Policies & Disclaimers

How we run a job site.
In writing, on purpose.

These are the operating rules our crews follow on every Regina address — and the honest disclaimers about what we will and will not be on the hook for.

The short version

Weather first
Crew lead has stop-work authority
Written change orders, always
Sort & recycle on site
Pets indoors during tear-off
Nothing in the storm drain

1. Weather & Stop-Work Policy

Saskatchewan weather decides the calendar — not us, not you.

Roofing, siding, and exterior installs are weather-sensitive. We will pause or postpone work when any of the following occur:

  • Active rain, snow, or freezing precipitation on the work surface.
  • Lightning within 10 km of the site.
  • Sustained winds above 40 km/h or gusts above 60 km/h on roof decks.
  • Ambient temperatures outside the manufacturer-approved install range.
  • Heat-stress conditions (Humidex above 38) — we shift schedules earlier and add hydration/rest cycles.

Weather rescheduling is not a cancellation. We notify you the same day and reschedule for the next workable window.

2. Site Safety Authority

The crew lead has final authority over on-site safety. If conditions degrade — weather, structural surprise, neighbouring activity — work stops until it is safe to resume. This authority is not negotiable, even at customer request.

See our full Safety & Compliance program for WCB, insurance, PPE, and JHA details.

3. Hidden Conditions & Change Orders

Tear-offs reveal what previous installs covered up. When we find rot, pest damage, prior improper installs, missing flashings, or code deficiencies, we:

  • Stop, photograph, and document the condition.
  • Send you a written Change Order with line-item pricing.
  • Wait for written approval before continuing — we do not perform unapproved work and then bill for it.

4. Liability Disclaimers

What our insurance covers and what it cannot.

We carry $5M Commercial General Liability and active WCB Saskatchewan coverage. Our policy does not cover:

  • Damage to unmarked or undisclosed underground utilities, irrigation, or fencing.
  • Pre-existing structural conditions, drywall cracks from normal vibration, or settling unrelated to our scope.
  • Damage caused after completion by hail, wind, fire, ice damming from inadequate insulation we did not install, wildlife, or third parties.
  • Items left in the work zone — vehicles, BBQs, planters, satellite dishes, attic contents directly under work areas — that were not moved or disclosed before mobilization.
  • Indirect or consequential losses (lost rental income, business interruption, etc.) — see our Terms of Service §11.

5. Service Limitations

Our standard quote assumes typical conditions. Additional charges may apply for:

  • Hidden rot, mold remediation, or structural repairs uncovered during tear-off.
  • Special equipment (boom lifts, cranes, scaffolding) needed for access.
  • Emergency, after-hours, or same-day service.
  • Access difficulties not disclosed at quote time (locked gates, narrow alleys, etc.).
  • Hazardous-material disturbance (e.g., suspected asbestos under old shingles).

6. Warranty Disclaimer

Our 10-year workmanship warranty covers installation defects only. Manufacturer warranties on materials are separate and pass through to the property owner per the manufacturer's terms. The workmanship warranty is void if:

  • Third parties perform work on or modify the installed system without notice.
  • Foot traffic by others damages the assembly.
  • Fasteners, vents, or accessories are added by others.
  • Roof loads exceed structural design (snow accumulation in unmaintained areas).

7. Pets, Children & Vibration Sensitivity

Roofing tear-offs are loud and vibrate the structure. Please:

  • Plan to keep pets indoors and away from the work area — falling debris is a real hazard, even outside the marked drop zone.
  • Move framed art, mirrors, and shelf items off shared walls. Vibration knocks things down even when the roof is solid.
  • Notify us in advance of anyone with noise sensitivities, shift workers sleeping during the day, or medical equipment that should not be unplugged.

8. Landscaping, Gardens & Driveways

We tarp planting beds along the drip line, place plywood under dump-trailer wheels and jacks, and magnet-roll the perimeter every evening. Even so:

  • Annual flowers and delicate ornamentals close to the foundation may be bruised.
  • Heated/stamped concrete driveways, paver patios, and decorative gravel beds — please tell us in advance so we can route deliveries differently.
  • Sod recovers; we will note any concerns in the pre-job site walk.

9. Environmental Practices

We sort waste at the dumpster: asphalt shingles, metal flashing, cardboard, and plastic packaging are separated for recycling where Regina facilities accept them. Diversion receipts are available on commercial jobs by request.

Solvents, sealants, and torch fuels are stored in compliant containers and removed from site at the end of the project. Nothing goes into the storm drain.

10. Quote, Inspection & Drone Use

On-site estimates are free for residential properties within our standard service area. We may use a Transport Canada-registered drone for roof inspection where safe and permitted; we do not record adjacent properties and we delete imagery after the project warranty period unless you ask us to keep it.

11. Photo & Project Documentation

We photograph before, during, and after — for quality control, warranty, and training. Photos that show your address, license plates, or recognizable interior detail are never used in marketing without written consent.

Anonymized exterior shots may appear in our portfolio. Email us anytime to opt out, and we will remove your project from public-facing materials.

12. Insurance-Claim Work

For hail and storm claims, we work directly with your adjuster, scope the loss honestly, and price to the regional standard. We do not waive deductibles, inflate scopes, or encourage fraud — practices that hurt every honest homeowner's premiums.

13. Subcontractors

When specialty trades are required (cranes, electrical relocation, structural carpentry), we use vetted partners carrying their own WCB and liability coverage. Their conduct on your property is held to the same standard as our crew.

14. Complaint Resolution

If something is wrong, we want to hear it first — before reviews, before social media, before lawyers. Our process:

  1. Email roofingandexterior@praetoriagroup.ca or call (306) 737-6269. We acknowledge within 1 business day.
  2. A supervisor inspects within 10 business days, weather permitting.
  3. We provide a written remedy plan with dates.
  4. If unresolved, we agree to mediation in Regina before any litigation.

15. Third-Party & Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays caused by material shortages, supplier errors, courier delays, weather catastrophes, labour actions, or government orders. Performance dates extend by the duration of the event with no penalty to either party.
